Octane x macbook pro9/13/2023 OTOY has today announced its Octane rendering suite is now available on macOS as a free app. It is also launching two new exclusive subscriptions for Prime and Enterprise, including a year free for each. OTOY has today announced its Octane rendering suite is now available on macOS as a free app. Octane X is a free download for both Intel Macs and Apple silicon. On the high-end Mac Pro this means the full enterprise suite, which includes, you know, network rendering. So you should need to add one of the supported AMD GPUs in an eGPU box connected via Thunderbolt 3, natively supported in Catalina, in order to be able to use OctaneX on your Mac now, like a Radeon VII or 5700 XT. Octane X is a free download for both Intel Macs and Apple silicon. A full commercial version of Octane X, with one year of maintenance, will be made available for free to all new users activating Octane X on 2019 or later models of Mac Pro, iMac, and MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur. The app requires that a Mac is running macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later and has the latest AMD or Intel integrated graphics. All other Macs, including M1 devices, will have access to a free year of Octane X Prime. We are expecting to have the full Metal support of Intel/AMD GPUs in the upcoming Mac Os 11 Big Sur, but I’m not expecting great performance from Intel GPUsĪMD GPUs are definitely better, in my opinion.Īt the moment, only the following AMD GPUs are supported in OctaneX under Mac Os Catalina 10.15.6: MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and Mac Pro users will be able to get a free year of Octane X Enterprise, which has access to RNDR.
